Adventures in...self doubt?

Long story short:

I decided to open Krita and draw…to put some self-gaslighting to rest. My first attempt came out a little wonky (I was happy with it, but something still felt off about it).

And then I discovered that my process video…DID NOT SCREEN RECORD!!! There was no way to recover the steps I had taken since I had already saved and closed the program. That bad news got me to go back and tweak the drawing a bit, until I got to this version:

I fixed the lighting, fixed some proportions (liquify + mirror image helped A LOT), added some more flashy things, and refined some shapes.

THIS VERSION MADE ME SO HAPPY. I was blown away, ready to upload it onto platforms, and then I realized……..

“She looks like an alien.” Look how tall her head is? How had I missed that!

I sighed and had a quick laugh at myself before figuring out how to fix it. Moving the hair layer didn’t work because of her bangs, so I had to literally chop some hair off…at the top. And move the crown thingy.

It’s not perfect…but…for 2h15min of work, I’m really happy with it. And I proved my self-gaslighting thoughts wrong. Maybe I’m not as good as other artists, but each time I try…I’m learning something new and refining my skills.

That’s good enough for me.

Finished version is in the video!
